How Imovane Works
Imovane 7.5 mg Zopiclone Tablets by Sanofi are designed to treat sleep disorder and insomnia. They are a nonbenzodiazepine Imidazopyridine drug that are molecularly distinct from typical benzodiazepines. Zopiclone is actually classed as a cyclopyrrolone drug, however, it does increase normal transmission of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the central nervous system. It does so by modulating benzodiazepine receptors in the same way that benzodiazepines do. Which is why it is a popular short term treatment for different types of insomnia. These types Include:
- difficulty falling asleep
- nocturnal awakening and early awakening
- transient, situational or chronic insomnia
- insomnia secondary to psychiatric disturbances
- in situations where the insomnia is debilitating or is causing severe distress for the patient.
Imovane 7.5 mg Zopiclone is a sedative, as it works by causing a depression or tranquilization of the central nervous system. It also falls under the therapeutic class as a nonbarbiturate hypnotic. Imovane is not recommended for prolonged use, as the body can become accustomed to its effects. When dosage is then reduced or the drug is abruptly stopped, withdrawal symptoms may result. These can include a range of symptoms similar to those of benzodiazepine withdrawal. Although withdrawal symptoms from therapeutic doses of zopiclone and its isomers (i.e., eszopiclone) do not typically present with convulsions and are therefore not considered life-threatening, patients may experience such significant agitation or anxiety that they seek emergency medical attention.
This product is a nonbenzodiazepine medicine called Imovane and is manufactured by Sanofi. A French pharma company who are actually the 7th biggest pharma company in the whole world. Zopiclone is sometimes referred to as ‘Zops’ by younger users. It is also known as a “Z-drug”. Zopiclone is also called by the brand name Zimovane.
Other Z-drugs include zaleplon and zolpidem and are believed to be less addictive than benzodiazepines.

Before Using Imovane 7.5 mg zopiclone

Nonbenzodiazepine sleep medicines may cause a special type of memory loss or “amnesia”. When this occurs, one struggles to, or simply cannot remember what has happened during the several hours between use of the medicine and the time when its effects wear off. This is usually not a problem since most individuals fall asleep after taking the medicine. In most instances, memory problems can be avoided by taking zopiclone only when you are seeking to get a full night’s sleep of 7 to 8 hours before you need to be active again. Be sure to talk to your doctor if you think you are having memory problems.
Common side effects can include a metallic taste in your mouth, a dry mouth, and daytime sleepiness.
