Origin

Intas Biopharmaceuticals Limited was set up in 1980 by Dr Urmish Chudgar. He is a leading hematoncologist, who set the company up as an independent biotechnology division of Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd. It is a mid-sized generic formulation manufacturer located in Ahmedabad, India.

History

The division was to be later merged with its parent company Intas  Pharmaceuticals Ltd in 2013. The Biologics BU is located in Moraiya, Ahmedabad, India. It is one of the leading biosimilar product manufacturers in Asia. The Biologics BU has biopharmaceutical operations with a research & development facility. This is in addition to an EU-GMP certified bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

Intas can be found in 85 countries all around the world. They currently have 14 formulation manufacturing facilities. Seven of which are located in the country of the companies origin, India. They have a few in Mexico and the rest are actually located here in the United Kingdom.

Coverage

In the European markets the pharma giants interests include marketing and out-licensing. Along with supply agreements and contract manufacturing also. It has 300 out-licensing agreements with long-term supply agreements. They also have marketing set-ups in 6 western European countries. This includes:

Linked Companies

Accord Healthcare is actually an offshore identity of Intas in the UK. They acquired Accord back in 2017. Their UK base can be located in Pinner, Harrow which is just outside of West London. They also took over Teva Pharmaceuticals. This included all of Teva’s assets in both the UK and Ireland.
